I can highly recommend 3Porthminster on every level and it is a credit to the owners. The bedrooms, some with sea views and public areas are imaginatively decorated and a pleasure to be in. Breakfast caters for all tastes. It is generous and well cooked.A very calm and friendly atmosphere is evident in all areas.

Tips:

A short walk down into St Ives where there are diverse places to eat and drink and interesting places to visit.

Light and Airy B & B not far from the Harbour, restaurants & shops in beautiful St. Ives. Lynn was a lovely host, breakfast was very good and room was extremely clean with lovely view of the harbour. Would definitely stay at Porthminster B & B again.

Tips:

Plenty of restaurants to pick from, would imagine you'd have to book in the busier periods. The train station is very close and tickets are extremely cheap (return) to visit further afield without having to take the car. Can get to other parts of Cornwall quite easily from here and St. Ives is one of the most beautiful English seaside places to visit.

Perfect location, lovely breakfast, extra touches like milk, water, shower gel, nice decor. You could use dining room for a take away if you wanted. Quiet policy after ten. Host Lynn very friendly. Room was warm, so maybe a fan required. But we had a lovely stay and would stay again. Ten minute walk to harbor. All good.

Tips:

As long as you can negotiate stairs it's a wonderful place to stay, close to town and railway station for trips out.

Lynn and John were fantastic hosts. Everything about our stay was perfect. Friendly, helpful, very clean and breakfast was always good. Cannot fault in any way.

Tips:

Book restaurants in advance at busy times to avoid disappointment. We always found somewhere to eat in the evening and weren't disappointed with our choice. The Rajpoot Indian was superb. But there were a couple of restaurants we would have liked to go to and simply couldn't get in as they were booked weeks in advance.

Cute place in the perfect location, would definitely come again! Short walking distance to the beach and center. We had a smaller room in the second floor but it had everything we needed including a view over st.Ives and the cry of the seagulls to wake up to. Loved the breakfast - especially the homemade vegetarian sausage! Lynn was super forthcoming and took the time to give us a long list of possible restaurants around St.Ives.

Another great stay, the room was beautiful. We loved having the extra space to relax in. We would have liked a small 'loveseat' sofa/chair in the window so we could both enjoy the view together, but otherwise room, breakfast etc was all perfect. Makes the holiday really easy for us - close to station and town. Everything we needed.

Tips:

Peppers is our favourite restaurant for night one of the holiday after travelling. We found the Two Sisters shop this year in town, Elizabeth was so lovely and the clothing and products were gorgeous. We loved the sustainable, people driven companies they work with. We did a drawing class with Barnoon Arts this year which was fun, no pressure sketching tips. Moomaid is our favourite ice cream spot. And the St Ives Museum was a great rainy day place to explore.

As well as the usual galleries, a visit to The St Ives Museum is worthwhile. It’s packed with interesting local history and artefacts etc. relating to fishing, mining and lots lots more. The cafe/restaurant in The Tate. Lovely food and a fantastic view over Porthmeor Beach. It’s also open to customers who are not taking in the gallery. We loved our stay at 3 Porthminster. The room itself was bright, comfortable and spotlessly clean, and everything was set out really well. We were in room 1, which has a big bay window looking out over St Ives Bay. A nice time spent watching boats and gulls and the beautiful coastline. Lynn is a lovely host and looked after us so well. Great breakfast each morning too!

Tips:

Recommend Barbara Hepworth museum. Run by Tate, and housed in Hepworth’s studio and garden. Always a beautiful place to visit. Gurnards Head Hotel for lunch or dinner. A 15min drive out of St Ives, past the cute little village of Zennor. Quite pricey, but really great food. A lovely garden too, with spectacular views out to sea. Lynn and John are the best hosts. It’s our 3rd time staying in their B&B. They leave you to come and go and provide a wealth of information with their local knowledge and reading material. The rooms are stunning, exceptionally clean and the whole accommodation and dining area are welcoming with beautiful decor and soft furnishings. The breakfast is superb. They provide cereals, juice, chopped fresh fruit, yoghurt, toast, homemade jams, delicious hot breakfast with homemade veggie sausage if you prefer. If you don’t want a cooked breakfast you can choose pancakes. Breakfast is preorder and served anytime from 815 to 9am. Toiletries provided and soft white fluffy towels. We stayed in room 2 which is slightly cheaper as it’s a bit smaller than the other rooms. Although the en-suite is very small in this room, it works well for us and it’s our 2nd time in that room. All other rooms are bigger with a bigger en-suite. Lynn and John provide free parking on their driveway. If going out for the day you need to tell other guests as you may need to swap cars around on the driveway. Lynn and John provide cutlery and plates in the dining area if you want to bring a take away back but we always eat out. Thanks again for a superb, comfortable stay!

Tips:

Less than 8minutes walk to St ives train station, bus terminal and Porthminster beach. Located in a very quiet street despite being less than 8 minutes walk from all the shops, restaurants and harbour.

Very friendly and helpful. Very knowledgeable about the area with suggestions of places to visit. Breakfast were very good. Ability to freshen up the items in the room was good. The ability to use the dining room to have a take in evening meal was a very nice thought as it is a long walk to the town in the evening. We have had two lovely stays .

Absolutely loved our stay. A real home from home. Our room was lovely and bright with a comfortable bed and the view over St Ives harbour which looked like a picture. Spotlessly clean and excellent breakfast. Loved the quirky pieces of art. Thoughtful little touches with the cool water and fresh milk are a brilliant idea. Car parking was great and location was perfect for town and beach. Will definitely return. Keep up the good work. Thank you Lynn & John

Tips:

The open top coaster bus is really good value for money, can get to see places without the problem of driving and finding parking spaces. Recommend Peppers Italian restaurant, Harbour fish & chips eat in, St Ives bakery for flaky pasties, Moomaid ice-cream parlour and Olives tea shop.

As anticipated, we had a very enjoyable stay at 3 Porthminster. The accommodation is impeccably clean and remains very attractive. A calm and relaxed atmosphere pervades the house and sets the tone for a rewarding holiday in St. Ives. Many thanks Lynn and John for another great stay.

Tips:

Book all restaurants well in advance. The best vegetarian pasties in town are from the St. Ives Bakery on the corner of Fore Stree and the Digey. Take a coastal footpath walk to Porthkidney Sands.

Amazing hosts, Lyn and John, who made us feel very welcome and nothing was too much trouble. Spotlessly clean, bright and airy rooms with everything you need to hand. Breakfast was fantastic cooked by John and served by Lyn, and again, any requests were met without an issue. A real home from home 🙂

Tips:

Be prepared for the hills!! Pre-book restaurants that you really want to eat in as in high season not many walk-in tables available. Use local buses and trains to see lots of sights not accessible by car. £5 all day to ride on the hop on hop off open top buses.

A lovely B&B with a really helpful host. Very attentive and willing to offer advice. The room was spotless, fresh and modern so when stayed felt like we were at home almost. Food was great, cooked with fresh quality ingredients and a good start to the day. Cannot recommend them enough.

Tips:

The location is great, about five minute walk from the harbour. As the host told us, book restaurants in advance if viable. Places to visit: - Talay Thai Restaurant - St Ives Bakery - The Cellar Bistro - Beaches! - The Island (great views) - Blue Thunder Boat Trip (fast speed and exhilarating) plus you're likely to see the seals as we did - Malakoff bus station is nearby so can even do a day trip to Penzance or nearby towns. - Worth visiting also the specialist alcohol store they have, St Ives Brewery (little shop in town with on tap beers - they're amazing), there's also an Airsoft shop if you're into that. Except for that all the small little shops that offer a lot of different things that are nice to explore.

Tips:

The Penwith Gallery is, in its own way, as wonderful a space for Art as the Tate Gallery and more intimate. The restaurants above Porthmeor and Porthgwidden beaches are worth trying - so too, the one overlooking Pothminster Beach, but it is more expensive. Caffe Pasta in the harbour has an attitude problem out front, but the cooking is good.

Great email communication with Lynn to get us booked in - first in 2020 which had to be cancelled but we rebooked for 2021 and are so glad we did! A fantastic base for St Ives (with parking - v. important!). We knew the location from previous stays nearby many years ago. 3 Porthminster is just what we wanted for our visit - just 4 bedrooms and the whole place is decorated and styled to perfection - lovely bright rooms with wonderful sea views from the huge bay window (Room 1), great shower room, huge comfortable bed as well as a sofa and chair/footstool to relax and admire that view, plenty of tea/coffee/chilled water which you just restock yourself as needed at the moment. Delicious breakfast which you order the night before served in a delightful breakfast room which again has so many lovely decorative touches. A drinks cooler is located in reception which is very useful as is John (very useful, not located in reception!) who kindly supplied me with the all-important ice cubes for my GnTs sitting on the lovely front terrace where we sat most days after a day on the beach. Absolutely idyllic...would definitely stay again - Thank you both..

Tips:

We parked at 3 Porthminster and the car didn't move for the 4 days we were there! We just soaked up the atmosphere of St Ives and the gorgeous sunshine. Porthminster Beach was our favourite I think - fairly spacious and room at the cafe to sit with a cool drink. Porthgwidden is cute but small so it was quite nice to sit on the grassy area ("The Island") overlooking the beach below. Porthmeor again was lovely to see from above but we found the cafe area very busy and enclosed while we were there. Cafe Pasta - we'd pre-booked months before but they cancelled days before saying only doing bar service. We managed to get a booking at The Mex (an old fave) and that was as good as it always was. Walked past Cafe Pasta after our Mexican to see food in full swing so not sure what that was about! Met up with old friends who recommended The Mermaid. Hadn't been before but clearly been there for ever and very popular - really enjoyed our meal there - and lovely friendly staff. As a walk in option as we hadn't booked for all our nights - Beer & Bird was a good choice. They call you when your table is ready.

We had a lovely stay at Porthminster and want to thank the host for the exceptional hospitality. The food was lovely and we were very well catered for. The room had a lovely sea view and was very comfortable. The aesthetic of the guest house was really lovely and it was very welcoming. The only down side was the WiFi in our room was a bit hit and miss.

Tips:

The hotel was close to the rail/bus station for trips to Penzance. The town is about a 15 minute walk and incorporates a lot of stairs and hills. The town has the Tate museum and the Barbara Hepworth museum. There are also a couple of lovely beaches. The high street has a lot of independent shops and lovely cafes.

Excellent hosts, best B&B we've ever stayed in.

Tips:

Our stay was 4 nights July '21. Brilliant location for beach, train, town centre. All 2 minutes walk. Town centre, harbour and pubs were very busy. Book local restaurants early or before your stay, we never found a walk in and eat.

Great room, view and facilities. Lynn was very helpful and flexible to accommodate our needs. Only a 10 min walk to shops. Highly recommend and would definitely book this B&B again. Having a parking space was invaluable too.

Tips:

St Ives great shops, Tate and Porthmeor beach fantastic. Dolly P boat trip excellent and think about wildlife. Book trip for low tide as seals more likely to be on the rocks. We saw about 30. Don't book the extreme speed rides as they upset the seals and cause them to leave their rocks which uses an immense amount of energy and effort. Book all restaurants before you go on holiday and other activities eg Tate. We went to Tintagel Castle on way home as near Launceston. Fantastic shallow bay there and Merlins cave so take your swim stuff with you on your visit and book visit at low tide so beach and cave accessible.

7th July 2021:

Lynne was brilliant, attentive and even made us a breakfast pack on our leaving day as we decided to leave early to beat the traffic on a long drive home. The room was gorgeous with fantastic views of Porthminster beach and the surrounding headland. Exceptionally clean and all amenities we could wish for - we actually watched all the Euro games we wanted to watch in our room as it was far more pleasant than sat in a bar. The breakfast Lynne and Stave prepare is delightful, books and maps aplenty to plan your day and they've taken every possible step to achieve comfort even in the face of COVID. We felt incredibly well looked after and everything we could need was within easy reach. We will be rebooking to stay with you guys next year and neither of us can wait already!

Tips:

If you get a good clear evening, get a freshly baked Pizza from the Stoned van on the harbour and plonk yourself on Porthmeor with a decent bottle of red. The atmosphere is incredible with people on the beach, the mount and the streets all watching a glorious sunset with the sounds of the tide.

Brilliant B&B - would highly recommend staying in Room 1 - excellent sunny aspect with beautiful view, and big enough for seating area should you need to spend more time in your room on a rainy day. Wonderful breakfast cooked to order and Lyn is a very helpful host. Couldn’t fault anything and very COVID safe. Only reason I marked location as a 4 was due to steep hill which could be problematical for some people. We built up stamina by the end of the week - but if this isn’t a problem for you, location is great 5/10 mins walk to town and station.

Tips:

If you are travelling by train, the service between St Erth and St Ives works well and enables you to go further afield very easily. Open top bus works to time and currently stopping at Marazion which makes it easy to visit St Michaels Mount. Would particularly recommend Seafood Cafe for dinner - not cheap but really good quality food. Restaurants opening and closing all the time at the moment due to COVID so you need to go with the flow.

I’m so glad we booked here for a last minute getaway. It is perfectly located and only a short walk into St Ives which was perfect in an evening. The whole property was clean and hosts so friendly. We both felt every safe with the COVID measures put in place, things such as preordered and timed breakfast, and supplies for room ordered daily for stock up bags. Fresh milk in communal fridge with cold filter water. Our room was I believe the smallest but couldn't complain as it had everything we needed plus the bonus of sea views.

Tips:

Firstly to book this B&B, secondly explore StIves and surrounding areas whilst staying, Lands End was lovely... but make sure you wear walking shoes as you’ll want to explore more. Many lovely restaurants in StIves itself, wanted to try them all but my stomach wouldn’t allow. Would recommend all, or even just some takeaway on a bench watching the sea, absolute bliss.

Having stayed at many guesthouses in St. Ives I believe 3 Porthminster is the best in the town. The rooms are all attractively presented. Decor is of a high standard throughout the house and evokes a relaxing ambiance. The breakfasts are also delicious. The location of the guesthouse is excellent and the availability of on site parking is a considerable benefit.

Tips:

I recommend the Curry Garden restaurant which is a short walk from 3 Porthminster. Other restaurants I enjoy dining at include The Mex, The Firehouse Bar & Grill and The Beach. 7th October 2019:

The breakfast was excellent. Really good fresh fruit salad and a large superbly cooked breakfast using good quality ingredients. It was very clean and the room was serviced every day (not always the case it seems these days!). We liked the fridge in the hall for guest use and the provision of fresh milk therein. The only negative comment was that the window blinds rattled at night when it was windy as we always have bedroom windows open at night. We felt the price was quite high, more than we would usually expect to pay, but it is St Ives, which we know commands premium prices!

Tips:

The Beach Cafe Restaurant for great and we ate there both nights. Good friendly service and excellent food.

Brilliant experience from start to end; great customer service from Lynn and John. One of the best value for money B&B we've stayed in. Delightful breakfast e.g. poached eggs "to die for" and good advice on local entertainment and facilities.

Dining: Mex St Ives, Rajpoot Indian (both Gabriel Street); Porthmeor Restaurant, Porthmeor Beach. Drinking and live music: Kettle and Wink Bar, Gabriel Street; Queens, High Street. Art: Tate St Ives, Porthmeor Beach; various galleries throughout St Ives centre. Walking; Portmeor Beach to Zennor Head - 6.5 miles ending at Tinners Arms (great beer and food). Could not wish for better hosts.

Tips:

Lynn and John have many recommendations in their accommodation book. Would just mention that it is best to book restaurants because they get very busy. If just fancy great coffee and cake when out for the day, on way back try the Lakeside cabin just outside St Ives. Also at end of holiday and getting quite spent-up the balancing eel fish and chip restaurant/takeaway to which you can sit down to eat and bring your own alcoholic beverage will save few pennies.

Second time we have stayed here and we will definitely return, John and Lynn were perfect hosts, even using their own vehicle to keep a parking place for us as our vehicle was too big for their car park. The hotel itself is immaculate, the rooms are spotlessly clean and the décor is gorgeous, the breakfast was beautiful,(and we are fussy eaters!) there is not a single negative thing we can say about 3 Porthminster and would definitely recommend it.

Tips:

Although the hotel seems a bit out of the town by car, it is actually much closer when waking via a shortcut footpath. Beautiful beaches, plenty of places to eat and we enjoyed the live music at night in most of the pubs, definitely plenty of variety to suit all tastes.

Tips:

We would recommend Caffe pasta on the harbour to eat if you like pasta or pizza they had very nice homemade desserts we also had a couple of meals at the beach restaurant which is mainly a fish restaurant on the harbour and also had a few meals at a new restaurant which was.at the beginning of the harbour called sea food harbour restaurant Lovely beaches to sit on if the weather is good .found the local buses good to go about Lots of art galleries including the Tate and Barbara Hepworth house and sculpture garden nice walk to carbis bay with lovely views.st Ives is lovely so pretty with all the lovely beaches it has very nice individual shops

Breakfast was delicious, a good variety of cereal, fruit and yogurts as well as cooked breakfast with yummy homemade vegetarian sausages, yum! Thanks Lynn and John for making our stay a happy and memorable one.

Tips:

plenty of good restaurants in st Ives. a favourite being porthmeor cafe on porthmeor beach, with Tate St Ives art gallery very near. Catch beautiful sunsets on porthmeor beach. Really good coastal walks - St Ives to Lelant a gentle walk passing through the beautiful Carbis bay. St Ives to Zennor, more challenging walk with beautiful coastal scenery and a great pub in zennor for lunch. A good few pubs in the cobbly streets with live music and jam sessions.

3Porthminster is a lovely b&b, with a warm and friendly atmosphere. The guest lounge on the ground floor has comfortable chairs and a selection of reading materials. Out the front is a timber deck with chairs and tables though we didn't have time to use it during our stay. Our room was spacious and had a sideways view of the water. Recommended.

Tips:

It's a 5-10 minute walk downhill to the waterfront and cafes, restaurants, shops etc. Be aware the return walk is uphill. We had a hire car which we could leave at the front of the b&b, and easy exit from the town for day trips.

Lynn was an excellent and friendly host, everything was completely clean and the breakfast very good. Room 3 has a great view of the town and harbour. The only problem with the otherwise lovely location is the climb up from town.

Tips:

We had good meals at Harbour Fish & Chips, Queen's Hotel and The Loft restaurant. For art and for beaches St Ives is best small town in England!

21st September 2018:

We recently returned from a 6 night stay at 3 Porthminster and thoroughly enjoyed our stay there. We were met by a friendly & welcoming Lynn on our early arrival & was able to park our car on site prior to check-in. As it was too early for our room to be ready, Lynn kindly offered to send us a text to advise us when we could check in, which was much appreciated. The B & B is a lovely, well kept house with wonderful views over St Ives. We had room 2, a small but really nice double with sea views over the roof tops. The breakfasts were very good, plentiful with a special mention for John's homemade mixed berry compote. We found both John & Lynn lovely, friendly & helpful hosts - always on hand to answer our queries. We would not hesitate to book a return stay. Thank you John & Lynn for a lovely holiday

Tips:

Lovely walk to Clodgey Point along the coast path towards Zennor. We spotted a seal pup in a small cove en-route. Fantastic meals at Cafe Pasta & Blas Burgerworks.

Met by John who took us to our room, showed us how to use everything we would need and pointed us in the right direction for the town. Met Lynn the next morning at breakfast and greeted with that wonderful question, "tea or coffee". Lovely place to stay in a great town.

Went to the Beach restaurant on the wharf twice, food exellent. Wanted to try the Loft but closed on Sundays when we tried to book.

Lovely place to stay for us as we like to get out and about with minimal fuss .. Hosts were there when if needed but left us un harassed to come and go . Convenient for the town and restaurants but not the noise. The room was nicely furnished with all the necessary requirements and the shower was good with no water restriction. Happy to stay again if the visiting area

Tips:

We used 3porthminster as a base and visited Landend , The Lizard and other great places all within easy reach of St Ives . A drink in The Sloop was a must and there are a lot of nice local restaurants to choose from for a nice evening meal ..

I cant believe this is only a 3 star place. The Victorian property is very well decorated with interesting artwork and pieces and some original features. Location is superb and the hosts are faultless. Will stay there again.

Tips:

Two minute walk to the beach and 5 to the local town centre. Recommend live music venues and Barbara Heptworth a must. Pay attention to the unique colour of St. Ives sunlight and I would recommend the bistro in the town centre.

17th August 2018:

A delightful stay in lovely St.Ives made all the more enjoyable by the warm welcome we received from Lynne and the attention to detail she gave to ensure we had all we needed - even down to recommending local restaurants and places to visit. Breakfast menu is chosen the evening before and was ready as soon as we appeared in the dining room - nicely cooked and with plenty of choice along with tea, coffee, fruit juices, cereals, toast and fresh fruit. Our bedroom (No. 1) overlooked the front of the house with wonderful big bay windows giving views over the town and down to the sea. Lynne also ensured we had a parking space (off road) and, had the need arisen, would have been able to move our car should it have blocked anyone in. 3 Porthminster is about 5 minutes walk from the town centre and harbour with all its galleries, shops, pubs and restaurants. Truly a little Cornish gem. We'll be back !! Thank you Lynne.

Tips:

Make the boat trip to Seal Island on the Dolly P - but try to go at low tide as this is when the seals are more likely to be basking on the rocks. Tickets available at the harbour near the lifeboat station. If you love open air theatre, the Minack Theatre at Porthcurno is a must. The views from St.Michael's Mount are wonderful but, again, go at low tide and enjoy the amazing walk along the causeway to the island - return by the regular boat service if the tide is in - £2 per adult per trip (plus a charge to enter the Castle and gardens if you wish). Another (quirky) favourite of ours is The Potters Shop in Fore Steet, St.Ives - pick up a genuine Cornish Pisky !!

16th August 2018:

Hosts were extremely welcoming and made us feel at home right from the start. We stayed in room 3 which had a great view down over St Ives. Our room was immaculate, and had a very comfortable bed. The cooked breakfast was really good, and there was lots of choice. The 'communal' fridge was a great bonus and it was brilliant being able to have fresh milk with our cuppas in the room. Could find nothing to fault at all - a great stay, thank you.

Tips:

We stayed in August, so the town of St Ives was very, very busy - definitely need to book in advance if you are wanting to eat there in the evenings. We had a really nice meal at The Badger Inn in Lelant - only a short drive away from St Ives. We also found a gorgeous little tea-room in a tiny place called Coombe, on the edge of the lovely Tehidy Country Park, we had an awesome cream tea there - they have a great choice of food and drink at very reasonable prices in a lovely setting (sorry don't know it's name - but it's right on the entrance to the country park at the south-western tip on the park's map) and it will apparently stay open throughout the winter too, though then only at weekends.

This house isn‘t only an B&B. For me in my vacation, it was a romantic, warm and clean home. Lynn and John are very good and lovely hosts. They had always „an ear for me“ and were very courteous. They helped with tips and deeds. There house is very lovingly designed and they also appreciate little things. Whether it was a good-smelling Soap in the bathroom, the biscuit on the tea tray or the nicely designed room. Breakfast in the morning was always fresh and delicious for every taste. If I visit Cornwall again, then I would like to stay at 3 porthminster again!!!

Tips:

I loved the Porthgwidden Beach Café. Porthmeor Beach has a great sunset! Taste a cornish cream tea at Moomaid of Zennor in St. Ives!

Friendly, helpful proprietors. Bright, immaculately clean accommodation. Very good breakfast with wide choice (not greasy) - homemade compote delicious. Efficient shower. Elevated position means great views but quite hard work for older or less able visitors; however, taxis are plentiful and not too expensive and there are buses during the day (not in the evening).

Tips:

Good restaurants: Beach Restaurant and Porthminster Kitchen by harbour - mainly fish, average prices; Porthminster Beach Cafe - excellent, quite expensive. Worth seeing Penwith Gallery (as well as Tate & Barbara Hepworth Museum & Garden).

Lovely place, definitely the cleanest place we have stayed in. Comfy bed. We enjoyed the walk from town but if you are not very fit this could be a problem very hilly. Tips:

We had a great time in the centre, boat trip to seal island was nice only 1 hour trip but great to see the seals. We went in a couple of places each night to see live music and had a great time. The Beach Restaurant and Mermaid are excellent places to eat, everywhere we ate in St Ives was great but these two stood out for us. Hi Lynn. Thank you for a wonderful stay at your B&B. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and experience with you. I have no suggestions on any improvements as our time with you was fantastic in all ways. Sorry about the hair dryer and fire alarms

Tips:

Our 4 night stay at 3Porthminster was fantastic and Lynn is a wonderful host. Before our stay there were a couple of emails and her communication was excellent with prompt friendly and courteous responses. We stayed in room 3 which had amazing views of St.Ives and I believe other rooms also have great scenery to look out on. A full English Breakfast was delicious (as well as continental options) and made to order each morning. The location is brilliant. The hill into town is steep but short, and legs get used to them in a day or so. 3Porthminster also offers car parking, and parking in St.Ives can be an issue. It’s a great home base to tour South Cornwall and only a short distance to many local attractions. We would recommend 3Porthminster to anyone considering quality accommodation in the region.

We were given a friendly welcome from the host on arrival and shown our room which was beautifully decorated and furnished to a high standard. It was light, bright and airy with two big windows, one with sea views. The room was spotlessly clean too. Breakfast was cooked to order with cereal, fresh fruit, homemade fruit compot & yogurt to help ourselves to. All lovely! We would definitely stay again.

Tips:

The B&B is situated at the top of the town so it is close to walk down to the town where there are plenty of shops, cafes and restaurants to choose from, as well as the lovely beaches. sensible shoes are needed as the roads are really steep down from the B&B.

28th October 2017:

This B&B is ideally located and within easy walking distance of harbour and town centre. The walk back up to the accommodation is relatively steep but the less able and willing can always get a taxi. The quietness of the location compared to the bustle of the town centre especially during peak periods outweighs the incline! Our room had a lovely view over the entire harbour and town centre and It was very comfortable and spotlessly clean ...and there was always plenty of hot water for washing and showering, etc. The delicious breakfast was freshly cooked by the host and served with a smile by the hostess! Would definitely recommend it to friends and family.

Tips:

Being a popular resort there is wealth of eating places scattered throughout the town and seafront so difficult to recommend any in particular. However, if you want something different in the evening we found a little gem of a restaurant called The Hidden Kitchen which offers fine dining, again to be highly recommended.

Excellent location and lots of thought had gone into the facilities provided. Parking on site was also a huge asset. Our room was delightful, especially the harbour view. Lynn couldn’t have been more helpful and we would definitely go back there to stay if we are ever in St. Ives again.

I couldn't have picked a better guest house! We stayed in room 3, which had a good view of the harbour and a very comfy bed. There was also the benefit of a parking space, and was within easy walking distance into town. The owner, Lynn, was very friendly and helpful, and breakfast was tasty and well presented. All in all we had a pleasant stay in very tasteful surroundings. I can highly recommend this guest house, I don't think you will be disappointed.

Tips:

As we were self catering we didn't go out all the time, but can highly recommend 'The Queens Hotel ' for food and 'The Hub ' on the harbour for food and atmosphere. Give the Albatross (fish and chips) a miss though! We just love Cornwall, and in particular St Ives. Go to Sennen Cove and Gwiithian to look at Godrevy lighthouse, and try and leave those spectacular seas!

Thank you Stuart & Sharon! Yes, John is very important (there would be a continental only breakfast without him!). Just to fill in the gaps on your excellent recommendations - it's the Balancing Eel fish n chip shop and the Minack Theatre (a definite must see). Not sure about the Italian in Camborne :) Hope to see you both again in the future. Best wishes, Lynn

Our 4th visit to 3 Porthminster. Excellent B&B. Very good hosts. On site parking. Spotless room. Powerful shower. Tasty breakfast. Sensible prices. We will definately be back!

Tips:

Beware the feathered threat! The seagulls around the harbour are extremely aggressive if you have any type of food. Rent a deckchair on the harbour beach all day and watch the birds strike. The Curry Garden served an excellent meal. The Seafood Platter for 2 at The Sloop was very good too but the beer and cider in there has London prices. All of the beaches are very clean and sandy. Parking is a problem in the town so head for the leisure centre and get the bus down and back unless you're particularly fit.

Excellent host. A beautiful b&b, spotlessly clean. Would definitely recommend a stay here.

Tips:

Very near to the bus and train stations in St Ives. Therefore convenient for trips around the coast without the hassle of taking the car. Best restaurants, Porthmeor beach tapas bar. Alba, by the Lifeboat station. The Kitchen, upstairs in the harbour.
