We had a quiet and relaxing stay. Lynn helped to make our time at 3 Porthminster enjoyable with her friendly, helpful and attentive approach. Our room (No. 1) was spacious with a good view of the coast. Off street parking was available which was a bonus. The location in St Ives is excellent for strolling into town, venturing off on the coastal footpath and for catching the train giving a scenic ride along the coast.
Tips:Based on our previous experience staying in St Ives, we booked our restaurants in advanced of arrival as it was still likely to be busy in the town. There are plenty of choices to be had. We timed our visit for the St Ives art and musical festival fortnight. There is plenty to see and we enjoyed some great live music in the pubs in town.

This was our 4th stay at 3 Porthminster B&B. Lynn and John are the perfect hosts. Lynn can share local knowledge. The breakfast is pre-order with a delicious selection and veggie breakfast available with homemade veggie sausages. The produce is top quality. Plenty of tea and coffee options available in the room which you can top up at any time, even biscuits! They provide a mini fridge in the hallway with mini glass bottles of fresh milk and large bottles of filtered water. You can even store personal items in the fridge. They provide cutlery in the dining room each evening if you wish to have a takeaway. The rooms are spotlessly clean, fresh and tastefully decorated. The bed linen is very fresh smelling. They always do their best to accommodate free parking on their driveway. We have always benefited from this. Conveniently located a short walk from the train station, beach and town. Love this place and can’t wait to return.
Tips:Plenty of choice of restaurants and bars in the town and harbour.

Porthminster 3 B&B is a marvellously run guest house by Lyn and John. It was spotlessly clean, our room was spacious, tastefully decorated, modern, with a comfortable bed and wonderful seaview. Breakfast was really good that set you up for the day. A lovely touch was the birthday card Lyn sent to my wife which was so kind and thoughtful. Thoroughly recommend staying here. Beautifully situated and so professionally ran.
Tips:Places to visit. Eden Project. The beaches. You can't go wrong in Cornwall. Restaurants in St. Ives. Porthmeor beach cafe. Outstanding. Harbour Fish Bar. Porthminster beach bar for a special occasion though it is pricey with small portions. Pubs. The Lifeboat and Union Inn. There is one on way to Porthminster beach with outstanding Seaview.

Another great week at 3 Porthminster. I am a regular guest as it is such a delightful stay. The welcome is warm but not intrusive. The house and rooms are fine, well decorated and furnished. The hospitality is first class, lovely breakfasts, fresh milk and filtered water provided. The location is good, up above Porthminster beach and a few minutes walk into the town centre, and to the rail station. Book early! Tony D.

3 Porthminster BnB is such a lovely place to stay. It felt like home away from home. Lynn was so warm and welcoming. The breakfast was amazing! The room we stayed in was quaint and comfortable and we got a great view of the harbour and sea views. Walking distance to the beach, harbour, and town centre which was great. And since we are Catholic Church goers it was wonderful to just walk to the Catholic Church (Sacred Heart and St. Ila Catholic Church) which was less than a five minute walk away. The only critique I would have is that there was no toothpaste provided. I wonder why a lot of establishments now don’t provide toothpaste unlike before? We will definitely come back and stay at this lovely BnB again!
Tips:Lovely walks to the beach and town centre but just be prepared for a slight steep walk up the road. There are stairs leading up to Porthminster road so this shouldn’t be a problem. We love to walk so it wasn’t a problem for us. St. Ives is such a lovely quaint costal town and everyone is so friendly. The harbour is beautiful but do be careful of the nasty seagulls and your ice cream and pasties they’ll swift to steal your food! lol! Over all our stay was amazing!!

Another wonderful stay with you. It's the perfect home base for us now and makes our holiday relaxing from the very beginning - as we know we are in for a lovely B&B experience. Your rooms are so fresh, bedding so soft - they feel lovely to come back to after a day outside. Hope to see you next year!
Tips:- Fisherman's Rest Cafe in Newlyn, tiny cafe but great for a hot drink and view of the boats - Leel Shop/Cafe - shells we collected from the beach are being cast in bronze as a special memento

A table laid if you wanted to bring a meal back in the evening. Couldn’t ask for anything better. Fridge in the hallway with fresh milk, and able to put your own drinks in, a very thoughtful touch. You'd be hard pushed to find a better B&B in St. Ives. Everything was perfect. Location, cleanliness, breakfast options, and lots of lovely little touches. If I had one slight negative, it's that breakfast was a little restrictive from 8.15 - 9.00, and for us, a little early, but then we are retired!! We would definitely go back though!!

Great location with benefit of private parking. Easy to walk down to the town centre. Steep walk back, as is all of the area. Good hearty breakfast and Lynn was a lovely host. Fresh milk and filtered water always available in fridge in hallway for your supplied tea/coffee in your room. Would highly recommend.

Lynn is fab at what she does and guides you about things to do, parking, food places etc. The location was spot on, only 5 mins away from the beech, restaurants and shops and parking was available which was perfect for us. Lynn is kind and thoughtful. The B&B is a short walk from the train station in a quiet neighborhood, yet just a 4 minute walk into town. Ideal if you are car-less. We had one of the smaller rooms yet it was tasteful and comfortable with an interesting view of rooftops and sea in the distance. Breakfast was delicious. Each room also has an electric kettle and supplies for tea or coffee and a few biscuits. We would gladly return.
Tips:St Ives has so much to recommend. We walked the coastal path to Zennor- a challenging up and down hike on slippery rocks but gorgeous views and wildflowers at the end of May. We were able to take a bus back from Zennor to St Ives. The Barbara Hepworth museum and sculpture garden is a must see. There are many pocket beaches, cafes and restaurants. Lots of fun exploring to do. The only negative is the result of all of its positives: it seems every residence is to let or a B& B and that no locals live here any more.

Tips:Plenty of restaurants to pick from, would imagine you'd have to book in the busier periods. Makes the holiday really easy for us - close to station and town. Everything we needed.
Tips:Peppers is our favourite restaurant for night one of the holiday after travelling. We found the Two Sisters shop this year in town, Elizabeth was so lovely and the clothing and products were gorgeous. We loved the sustainable, people driven companies they work with. Tips:As well as the usual galleries, a visit to The St Ives Museum is worthwhile. It’s packed with interesting local history and artefacts etc. relating to fishing, mining and lots lots more. The cafe/restaurant in The Tate. Lovely food and a fantastic view over Porthmeor Beach. It’s also open to customers who are not taking in the gallery. Mention it to the staff and they’ll direct you to take the lift to the top floor.

We loved our stay at 3 Porthminster. The room itself was bright, comfortable and spotlessly clean, and everything was set out really well. We were in room 1, which has a big bay window looking out over St Ives Bay. A nice time spent watching boats and gulls and the beautiful coastline. Lynn is a lovely host and looked after us so well. Great breakfast each morning too!
Tips:Recommend Barbara Hepworth museum. Run by Tate, and housed in Hepworth’s studio and garden. Always a beautiful place to visit. Gurnards Head Hotel for lunch or dinner. A 15min drive out of St Ives, past the cute little village of Zennor. Quite pricey, but really great food. A lovely garden too, with spectacular views out to sea. We saw an incredible sunset from here. Porthmeor beach. In front of Tate St Ives. Beautiful spot for a swim or surf

Lynn and John are the best hosts. It’s our 3rd time staying in their B&B. They leave you to come and go and provide a wealth of information with their local knowledge and reading material. The rooms are stunning, exceptionally clean and the whole accommodation and dining area are welcoming with beautiful decor and soft furnishings. The breakfast is superb. They provide cereals, juice, chopped fresh fruit, yoghurt, toast, homemade jams, delicious hot breakfast with homemade veggie sausage if you prefer. If you don’t want a cooked breakfast you can choose pancakes. Breakfast is preorder and served anytime from 815 to 9am. Toiletries provided and soft white fluffy towels. We stayed in room 2 which is slightly cheaper as it’s a bit smaller than the other rooms. Although the en-suite is very small in this room, it works well for us and it’s our 2nd time in that room. All other rooms are bigger with a bigger en-suite. Lynn and John provide free parking on their driveway. If going out for the day you need to tell other guests as you may need to swap cars around on the driveway. Lynn and John provide cutlery and plates in the dining area if you want to bring a take away back but we always eat out. Thanks again for a superb, comfortable stay!
Tips:Less than 8minutes walk to St ives train station, bus terminal and Porthminster beach. Located in a very quiet street despite being less than 8 minutes walk from all the shops, restaurants and harbour.

A lovely B&B with a really helpful host. Very attentive and willing to offer advice. The room was spotless, fresh and modern so when stayed felt like we were at home almost. Food was great, cooked with fresh quality ingredients and a good start to the day. Cannot recommend them enough.
Tips:The location is great, about five minute walk from the harbour. As the host told us, book restaurants in advance if viable. Places to visit: - Talay Thai Restaurant - St Ives Bakery - The Cellar Bistro - Beaches! - The Island (great views) - Blue Thunder Boat Trip (fast speed and exhilarating) plus you're likely to see the seals as we did - Malakoff bus station is nearby so can even do a day trip to Penzance or nearby towns. - Worth visiting also the specialist alcohol store they have, St Ives Brewery (little shop in town with on tap beers - they're amazing), there's also an Airsoft shop if you're into that. Except for that all the small little shops that offer a lot of different things that are nice to explore.

We knew the location from previous stays nearby many years ago. 3 Porthminster is just what we wanted for our visit - just 4 bedrooms and the whole place is decorated and styled to perfection - lovely bright rooms with wonderful sea views from the huge bay window (Room 1), great shower room, huge comfortable bed as well as a sofa and chair/footstool to relax and admire that view, plenty of tea/coffee/chilled water which you just restock yourself as needed at the moment. Delicious breakfast which you order the night before served in a delightful breakfast room which again has so many lovely decorative touches. A drinks cooler is located in reception which is very useful as is John (very useful, not located in reception!) who kindly supplied me with the all-important ice cubes for my GnTs sitting on the lovely front terrace where we sat most days after a day on the beach. Absolutely idyllic...would definitely stay again - Thank you both..
Tips:We parked at 3 Porthminster and the car didn't move for the 4 days we were there! We just soaked up the atmosphere of St Ives and the gorgeous sunshine. Porthminster Beach was our favourite I think - fairly spacious and room at the cafe to sit with a cool drink. Porthgwidden is cute but small so it was quite nice to sit on the grassy area ("The Island") overlooking the beach below. Porthmeor again was lovely to see from above but we found the cafe area very busy and enclosed while we were there. Cafe Pasta - we'd pre-booked months before but they cancelled days before saying only doing bar service. We managed to get a booking at The Mex (an old fave) and that was as good as it always was. Walked past Cafe Pasta after our Mexican to see food in full swing so not sure what that was about! Met up with old friends who recommended The Mermaid. Hadn't been before but clearly been there for ever and very popular - really enjoyed our meal there - and lovely friendly staff. As a walk in option as we hadn't booked for all our nights - Beer & Bird was a good choice. They call you when your table is ready.

We always enjoy a relaxing stay at 3 Porthminster. The accommodation is stylish and cleanliness is of the highest standard. Breakfasts are delicious. The location, being just a short walk to the High Street, while commanding fabulous views could not be better.
Tips:1. Book all restaurants two months in advance. 2. If eating take away food sit with your back to a wall to avoid losing it to seagulls. 3. The best pasties in town can be purchased at the St. Ives Bakery on the corner of Fore Street and the Digey.

We had a lovely stay at Porthminster and want to thank the host for the exceptional hospitality. The food was lovely and we were very well catered for. The room had a lovely sea view and was very comfortable. The aesthetic of the guest house was really lovely and it was very welcoming. The only down side was the WiFi in our room was a bit hit and miss.
Tips:The hotel was close to the rail/bus station for trips to Penzance. The town is about a 15 minute walk and incorporates a lot of stairs and hills. The town has the Tate museum and the Barbara Hepworth museum. There are also a couple of lovely beaches. The high street has a lot of independent shops and lovely cafes.

Great room, view and facilities. Lynn was very helpful and flexible to accommodate our needs. Only a 10 min walk to shops. Highly recommend and would definitely book this B&B again. Having a parking space was invaluable too.
Tips:St Ives great shops, Tate and Porthmeor beach fantastic. Dolly P boat trip excellent and think about wildlife. Book trip for low tide as seals more likely to be on the rocks. We saw about 30. Don't book the extreme speed rides as they upset the seals and cause them to leave their rocks which uses an immense amount of energy and effort. Book all restaurants before you go on holiday and other activities eg Tate. We went to Tintagel Castle on way home as near Launceston. Fantastic shallow bay there and Merlins cave so take your swim stuff with you on your visit and book visit at low tide so beach and cave accessible.

Lynne was brilliant, attentive and even made us a breakfast pack on our leaving day as we decided to leave early to beat the traffic on a long drive home. The room was gorgeous with fantastic views of Porthminster beach and the surrounding headland. Exceptionally clean and all amenities we could wish for - we actually watched all the Euro games we wanted to watch in our room as it was far more pleasant than sat in a bar. The breakfast Lynne and Stave prepare is delightful, books and maps aplenty to plan your day and they've taken every possible step to achieve comfort even in the face of COVID. We felt incredibly well looked after and everything we could need was within easy reach. We will be rebooking to stay with you guys next year and neither of us can wait already!
Tips:If you get a good clear evening, get a freshly baked Pizza from the Stoned van on the harbour and plonk yourself on Porthmeor with a decent bottle of red. The atmosphere is incredible with people on the beach, the mount and the streets all watching a glorious sunset with the sounds of the tide.

Brilliant B&B - would highly recommend staying in Room 1 - excellent sunny aspect with beautiful view, and big enough for seating area should you need to spend more time in your room on a rainy day. Wonderful breakfast cooked to order and Lyn is a very helpful host. Couldn’t fault anything and very COVID safe. Only reason I marked location as a 4 was due to steep hill which could be problematical for some people. We built up stamina by the end of the week - but if this isn’t a problem for you, location is great 5/10 mins walk to town and station.
Tips:If you are travelling by train, the service between St Erth and St Ives works well and enables you to go further afield very easily. Open top bus works to time and currently stopping at Marazion which makes it easy to visit St Michaels Mount. Would particularly recommend Seafood Cafe for dinner - not cheap but really good quality food. Restaurants opening and closing all the time at the moment due to COVID so you need to go with the flow.

I’m so glad we booked here for a last minute getaway. It is perfectly located and only a short walk into St Ives which was perfect in an evening. The whole property was clean and hosts so friendly. We both felt every safe with the COVID measures put in place, things such as preordered and timed breakfast, and supplies for room ordered daily for stock up bags. Fresh milk in communal fridge with cold filter water. Our room was I believe the smallest but couldn't complain as it had everything we needed plus the bonus of sea views.
Tips:Firstly to book this B&B, secondly explore StIves and surrounding areas whilst staying, Lands End was lovely... but make sure you wear walking shoes as you’ll want to explore more. Many lovely restaurants in StIves itself, wanted to try them all but my stomach wouldn’t allow. Would recommend all, or even just some takeaway on a bench watching the sea, absolute bliss.

The breakfast was excellent. Really good fresh fruit salad and a large superbly cooked breakfast using good quality ingredients. It was very clean and the room was serviced every day (not always the case it seems these days!). We liked the fridge in the hall for guest use and the provision of fresh milk therein. The only negative comment was that the window blinds rattled at night when it was windy as we always have bedroom windows open at night. We felt the price was quite high, more than we would usually expect to pay, but it is St Ives, which we know commands premium prices!

Tips:Lynn and John have many recommendations in their accommodation book. Would just mention that it is best to book restaurants because they get very busy. If just fancy great coffee and cake when out for the day, on way back try the Lakeside cabin just outside St Ives. Also at end of holiday and getting quite spent-up the balancing eel fish and chip restaurant/takeaway to which you can sit down to eat and bring your own alcoholic beverage will save few pennies.

Second time we have stayed here and we will definitely return, John and Lynn were perfect hosts, even using their own vehicle to keep a parking place for us as our vehicle was too big for their car park. The hotel itself is immaculate, the rooms are spotlessly clean and the décor is gorgeous, the breakfast was beautiful,(and we are fussy eaters!) there is not a single negative thing we can say about 3 Porthminster and would definitely recommend it.
Tips:Although the hotel seems a bit out of the town by car, it is actually much closer when waking via a shortcut footpath. Beautiful beaches, plenty of places to eat and we enjoyed the live music at night in most of the pubs, definitely plenty of variety to suit all tastes.

Breakfast was delicious, a good variety of cereal, fruit and yogurts as well as cooked breakfast with yummy homemade vegetarian sausages, yum! Thanks Lynn and John for making our stay a happy and memorable one.
Tips:plenty of good restaurants in st Ives. a favourite being porthmeor cafe on porthmeor beach, with Tate St Ives art gallery very near. Catch beautiful sunsets on porthmeor beach. Really good coastal walks - St Ives to Lelant a gentle walk passing through the beautiful Carbis bay. St Ives to Zennor, more challenging walk with beautiful coastal scenery and a great pub in zennor for lunch. A good few pubs in the cobbly streets with live music and jam sessions.

3Porthminster is a lovely b&b, with a warm and friendly atmosphere. The guest lounge on the ground floor has comfortable chairs and a selection of reading materials. Out the front is a timber deck with chairs and tables though we didn't have time to use it during our stay. Our room was spacious and had a sideways view of the water. Recommended.
Tips:It's a 5-10 minute walk downhill to the waterfront and cafes, restaurants, shops etc. Be aware the return walk is uphill. We had a hire car which we could leave at the front of the b&b, and easy exit from the town for day trips.

We recently returned from a 6 night stay at 3 Porthminster and thoroughly enjoyed our stay there. We were met by a friendly & welcoming Lynn on our early arrival & was able to park our car on site prior to check-in. As it was too early for our room to be ready, Lynn kindly offered to send us a text to advise us when we could check in, which was much appreciated. The B & B is a lovely, well kept house with wonderful views over St Ives. We had room 2, a small but really nice double with sea views over the roof tops. The breakfasts were very good, plentiful with a special mention for John's homemade mixed berry compote. We found both John & Lynn lovely, friendly & helpful hosts - always on hand to answer our queries. We would not hesitate to book a return stay. Thank you John & Lynn for a lovely holiday
