Paul, Deborah and apprentice Cleo were superb hosts. In fact this was the best ever stay at a BnB. Very clean, superb breakfasts with choices and so friendly with lots of good info to enhance your stay. I cannot recommend this place enough. A big 5 star award from us!
Tips:St Ives was a lovely place to stay. Big enough to have lots to see and many options for eating, but small enough to retain its charm. It was a good base to see many nearby sights.

An excellent guest house operated by very welcoming and friendly hosts. Nothing is too much trouble and they are very happy to share their local knowledge and tips to help optimize your visit. Immaculately clean, warm, comfortable and well appointed rooms. The whole house is clean, bright and nicely presented. Set on a main road yet exceptionally quiet and peaceful. Superbly cooked breakfast using the best quality products. Good location with wonderful views over Carbis Bay from the breakfast room. Very close to the SW coast path with its stunning scenery in both directions. Safe off road car parking is such a huge bonus. Overall a perfect place to stay when visiting the St Ives area.
Tips:Walk the SW path from the beautiful Carbis Bay then through the charming town of St Ives and across its fine beaches. La Casita Spanish restaurant is excellent for dinner - 5 mins walk

A lovely stay with a lovely family. Great local knowledge, good recommendations, and super friendly hosts. B&B has been very well done up, loved all the artwork and coastal theme. Food was a stellar (so much choice). Better to be outside St Ives itself for some peace and tranquility.
Tips:Coastal route into St Ives is very scenic, but also very steep. We loved viewing all the art in Barbara Hepworth’s garden, unmissable.

Oystercatcher is one place we look forward to staying every time that we visit St Ives. Deborah, Paul and Cleo are the perfect hosts and make you feel like one of the family rather than guests. Oystercatcher is beautifully maintained and ideally located in Carbis Bay. We always choose the master bedroom which is large and has a bay window sitting area with lovely views across the bay. Breakfast is amazing and Paul always cooks the locally sourced ingredients to perfection.
Tips:Try and book restaurants in advance as the best ones tend to be fully booked in peak season. Deborah and Paul have many suggestions but we particularly like The Mermaid, Porthminster Beach Cafe and The Beach restaurants

2nd July 2024:
We received such a lovely warm welcome from Paul and Debbie. They were very helpful with tips on where to eat bus times and the walk into St Ives. The room was lovely, light and airy My husband said Paul made the best B&B breakfast he has ever had, smoked haddock on brioche with a poached egg and hollandaise sauce. Very good vegetarian options for breakfast also for myself I would say it's highly likely we will be back!
Tips:This is a great base to explore the area. The bus stop is only a minute or 2 walk along the road, £2 to get into St Ives or £5 for a day ticket for the Lands End Coaster hop on hop off bus that goes to Lands End and Penzance, with everything in between The walk along the South West Coastal path from Oystercatcher into St ives is a stunning 40 minute walk

21st May 2024:
Deborah and Paul (not forgetting Cleo) all made us feel at home, they keep the house clean and tidy. The breakfast was excellent with a menu so no problem only what to choose? Our room at the front presented a good view of the bay and equipped with a shower, bath and a TV! They are quite knowledgeable about the area and have many flyers advertising what you can do. I would be happy to recommend them.
Tips:Ideally located on the road to St Ives, there is a Cost Cutter, bus stop, pub with food and a chip shop all within a 10 minute walk. The beach is about 15 minutes walk (steep hill) and St Ives 40 minutes (another steep hill) if you are fit no problem. Bus service very good you can get most places, some you may have to change bus in Penzance, the Land's End Coaster takes several hours and takes you around the coast, very scenic.

Paul & Deborah are the consummate hosts. So genuinely kind and welcoming. I cannot rate them, their facilities or their food highly enough. We had a wonderful stay despite poor weather conditions, which is a testament to their skills in ensuring we were always well looked after. Breakfast was a treat to the senses, locally sourced and delicious both to the eyes and the taste buds. The room was bright and clean and spacious, with a fantastic view. Plentiful supplies of beverages and biscuits, a super hot shower and fluffy soft bath towels. Our hosts were generous with their time and very helpful with suggestions about where to find hidden gems in the area. We had the most excellent experience.

The best B&B experience in our lifetime! Paul and Deborah were perfect hosts, our room exceeded our expectations & our breakfasts were a highlight of every day. My wife & I stayed at the Oystercatcher B&B for five nights & the novelty never wore off.
Tips:The B&B is very close to the St Ives town centre & offers easy road access in all directions. Our sea facing room provided a wonderful view which included the Godrevy Light and the Carn Brae monument & castle. There are expansive beaches,. coastal walks & pasty shops nearby. 29th April 2024:
I can only recommend Debby & Paul, they are very friendly, lovely people. The room was in great condition, nicely decorated and most importantly super clean. Breakfast was delicicous and the hosts make you feel very welcomed. They recommended things to do, places to visit and overall were very helpful. It was a superb service from every perspective. Thank you both for being so kind.
Tips:I didn't drive as I prefered to walk/hike. The place is located in Carbis Bay area, and walked to St Ives almost every day in half an hour or so. Most restaurants are in town, at the harbour. Do recommend surfing if you are up for fun activities, have lessons from beginners.. Haven't got around to try e-bike hire, but next time definitely will do. Try locally sourced/made food, like cornish pasties or have nice locally made gin and beers as well. Honestly, lot to do and see around here!

Tips:The Tarquin's gin workshop in St Ives is really interesting and fun, we had a great time. The Ugly Butterfly in Carbis Bay is a beautiful place for afternoon tea with a fabulous view. Paul and Deborah (and Cleo!) are exceptional hosts. Everything was explained fully on arrival. Room and house are spotless.Breakfast was delicious and beautifully presented. Paul and Deborah take time to talk to their guests once the rush of serving breakfast is over. This is a very nice practice.

Deborah, Paul and Chloe are the perfect hosts. Oystercatcher is conveniently located and immaculately clean. When you stay here (as Ann and I have a few times now) you are made to feel totally at home. Both Paul and Deborah spend time talking with the guests and advising them of local attractions and places of interest. The rooms are beautifully appointed, comfortable and spotlessly clean. Breakfast is amazing (don't worry about your waistline while on holiday!).... thoroughly recommend taking a holiday near St. Ives and staying here!
Tips:Try and book the master bedroom for lovely views across Carbis Bay.

We could not have picked a more perfect spot. The location was superb with parking off road and a bus stop 150 metres away to take you in any direction, 5 mins into St Ives and a train station down the hill which took 1 min to st Ives. Carbis Bay beach which is excellent for cleanliness and facilities is also just down the hill. As for the actual B&B, one word describes the hosts, the room and the breakfasts …. FANTASTIC Paul and Deborah were fab, super friendly, funny and have a great story to tell. The rooms were very clean, tastefully decorated and robust. The breakfasts, well I tried nearly everything on the menu, and all were superbly cooked, presented and delicious; they even make their own cherry compote to have with waffles and yoghurt! I can’t rave about it enough, I just wish we could have stayed longer. Will definitely go back. Big thanks to them both and their little helper. 😊 Kim & Chris (June 2023)
Tips:Don’t waste your time or money going to 1 Fish Street, supposedly the best restaurant in St Ives. We were extremely disappointed and we are foodies! Left after a couple of small plates and an overpriced bottle of not great wine, to get a Steak at the Firepit up the road!

We were greeted by the lovely Paul, Deborah and Cleo. Straight away I knew we was going to have an enjoyable time. They showed us the breakfast area and then took us to our room. The room was wonderful a beautiful garden view, very well presented and spotlessly clean. We loved the tea and coffee station and the hot chocolate was lovely too. We slept so well while we was there the beds were so comfortable. The breakfasts, well being a lover of food we absolutely loved these. The choices available were fabulous. Staying here truly made our trip to Cornwall a better one and if we ever return we will try to book here.
Tips:Paul's homemade compote is a must try it was sooooo yummy! Also Paul and Deborah recommended the restaurant La Casita which was just a walk away and we would definitely recommend this too we had a fabulous meal. We really enjoyed the scenic walk we took from Carbis Bay to St Ives so this is also something to do if you enjoy walking and nature. Most important tip book here if they have availability!!!!!! 😁

21st May 2023:
I have nothing negative at all to say about my stay at Oystercatcher and really no suggestions for improvement. Paul and Deborah are brilliant and considerate hosts, who really went the extra mile to make sure that I got the best out of my stay. They are helpful and a good source of local knowledge and things not to miss. Everywhere is clean, tidy and comfortable and I could not have wished for better accomodation. There is a wide range of breakfast options and Deborah and Paul will accomodate any special dietary requirements to their best ability. I would love to come back to St Ives in the future and would stay at Oystercatcher again without hesitation
Tips:If you plan to stay for a few days or a week invest in a bus pass. It really is worth the convenience of being able to hop on and off buses, especially if you don't feel like climbing hills. I found the local bus services to be plentiful and frequent but also worth downloading the Firstbuses App so you have all the information you need on your phone (including the times of the last bus). All the local towns and villages have thier individual character to discover. I really enjoyed Penzance for its atmosphere and different feel from St Ives. All the local beaches are lovely, clean and with beautiful sand and views. You might find that Carbis Bay own beach is much quieter than St Ives and just as lovely with local ameneties on the beach front for getting drinks, ice cream etc. So many places to walk including the wonderful Coastal paths. Also loads of places to eat nearby and for anyone vegetarian like me I cannot recommend the BeanInn (less than ten minutes walk away) highly enough. Some of the best vegetarian food I have ever tasted! I also liked the Spanish restaurant less than five minutes walk away. If you are on a budget there is also a nearby Tesco and Costcutter which sell readymade snacks and meals.

Paul and Deborah were super friendly hosts and gave lots of useful information on local places to visit and where to eat. The breakfast was freshly cooked to order with lots of choice and delicious. Best B&B we have ever stayed in and will definitely be returning in future.
Tips:Would highly recommend booking the master bedroom with sea view, but all rooms are furnished beautifully. Everything is supplied that you could need including biscuits and fresh milk in the fridge downstairs. Parking is especially useful as this is sometimes difficult to find in St Ives. There is a lovely coastal path down into St Ives but also a frequent bus service Stopping at a short distance along the road, which we were glad of when coming back up. There are also a couple of good places to eat very close by. Would absolutely recommend this B&B to everyone.

This is quite simply the best B & B we’ve ever stayed in. Our room was large, spotlessly clean and extremely comfortable. The bed linen used was exceptionally high quality as were the fittings in the bathroom. The bathroom itself was very well proportioned with both a bath and separate shower cubicle. The view from the room is great and you can make the most of it as there are two very comfortable chairs in the bay window. Owners Paul & Deborah really care about their business and are superb hosts - they are a fount of knowledge for restaurants, bars, attractions, travel etc… Paul is a trained chef and that shows at breakfast. The menu is varied and the food is cooked freshly and with skill. One thing to note - you order on the day so you get what you actually want rather than what we’ve experienced elsewhere with pre ordered breakfast the night before. Who on earth knows what they want to eat tomorrow??? Rarely for the area they have parking available. The B & B is a 10 minute walk to Carbis Bay station which gets you into St Ives in 3 minutes. The bus also stops more or less outside. We were bowled over by this place and will now plan our trips to St Ives based on availability here.

We were greeted by the lovely Paul and Deb on arrival. They were extremely welcoming to their fantastic B&B. They instantly made us feel welcome and comfortable. 2nd May 2022:
This was by far the best accommodation and hosts we've had so far and we've been traveling quite a bit. From the first message including tips on how to get there, to the room, the breakfast, the other guests...everything was perfect. We had the room with the sea view which was spacious, clean with a beautiful view. The bed was super comfortable, wifi was working good. Deborah, Paul & Cleo made our stay perfect, checking every morning to make sure we are having a good time, had some great tips on what to visit, where to eat, how to get to certain places, etc. Paul is an amazing chef and if you get there you definitely need o try the waffles with greek yogurt and cherry compote. It was super easy to get to St. Ives from the B&B both by bus (the bus stop is 1 min away from the house) or walking which we enjoyed most as we took the scenic route. We would definitely go back anytime.
Tips:Make sure you book a table a few days in advance to any place where you would like to eat. There are very few places that accept walk-ins or that have availability on the day. Also make sure you are not going too late for dinner. We went in St Ives at around 9 without a reservation and everything was closing at 10. We found only an Asian place where they accepted us. The food was delicious, but we didn't go to Cornwall to have asian food. La Casita is a restaurant around the corner from the B&B and has the best mussels and we were able to book it on the same day. Go by foot and explore the cities and villages. Don't stick to the coast line. You will find some absolutely breathtaking streets, houses and views.

We had an amazing stay at the Ouster Catcher. It is seldom that you can find such genuine places to stay where the hospitality is as amazing as this. Paul and Deb were fantastic providing us with plenty of useful advice and making sure that we were comfortable. Second was the breakfasts. I travel a lot and I’ve genuinely not had such good breakfasts before. Each individually made and sourced from local ingredients “try the French toast” or The Smokey.
Tips:I’d recommend walking into St Ives it’s a great stretch with amazing views day and night. Really gives you a feel to the place.

The room is spotlessly clean and supplied with everything you could need. Breakfast is plentiful, varied and made from the best ingredients cooked and served tp order.
Tips:Paul and Deborah suggested that we try and pre book evening meals in advance using Open Table and this was certainly good advice as all the best restaurants were fully booked. Also, getting around using the buses is a great idea, especially if you have an England national concessionary pass which is accepted on the buses here.

Made to feel very welcome. Wonderful sea view from the window, excellent breakfasts, helpful advice and friendly banter. Brilliant
Tips:1. Open top bus - great . Also bus service into St Ives frequent and easy 2. Make sure to book restaurants before travelling to the area - very little walk in capacity 3. SW costal path walk to Zenner well worth doing to Tinners Arms with return along the Coffin route. Full day and quite challenging but very rewarding. 4. Avoid Watermill and Old Forge in Lelant. Enjoyed Birdies and the Black Lobster

What a lovely visit to St Ives staying at the Oystercatcher. A warm and friendly welcome, from both Deborah and Paul, when we arrived. Beautifully decorated bedroom (double bedroom with garden view), with a very comfortable double bed. Excellent facilities, including coffees/teas and hot chocolate. Lovely finishing touches included (Delicious Shortbread, shampoo and shower gel). Room was cleaned and drinks tray was replenished daily. Breakfast was of a very high standard. Quality ingredients used and cooked to perfection. One of the best Eggs Royale I’ve ever had. The Oystercatcher Smokey (Haddock) is also delicious. Both Paul and Deborah were approachable and available whenever you required advice or wanted recommendations on the local area. Advice and recommendations were tailored to the needs of each guest. We would highly recommend a stay at the Oystercatcher, so thanks again Paul and Deborah.
Tips:Would recommend a coastal walk to admire the beautifully golden beaches with clear waters.

The room was lovely and clean with a big bathroom, towels and shower toiletries were provided. Even the decor is lovely seaside theme with work from a local artist. The breakfasts were delicious, cooked fresh daily with a great selection. We would have yoghurt and granola with home made cherry compote and coffee, then a cooked breakfast from a full Cornish, french toast, to smoked fish, all locally sourced. Deborah and Paul went above and beyond to give recommendations for beaches, surf spots and hiking paths, they basically did our daily itinerary for us! I would highly recommend the Oystercatcher to anyone visiting.
Tips:All our tips came from Deborah and Paul! The South coast path along the cliffs and Sennen beach for surfing were two of our highlights.

Hosts Paul and Deborah were friendly and very helpful with local information. Room was comfortable and quiet.
Tips:Recommend a visit to Tate St Ives and Penzance art gallery and museum. Also a bus trip on the Land's End cruiser will blow the cobwebs away and bring you close to the ancient Cornish countryside. A bus pass proved useful for getting around.

What can I say… We had the absolute best time staying with Deborah and Paul. The room was clean tidy, with a lovely view of the sea from the room, fresh milk set up with a lovely selection of teas and biscuits, and a very comfy bed too! The food was out of this world and we were set up for each day with a yummy breakfast. Our favourite of all was the ‘Oystercatcher’s Smokey’ this was delicious! Deborah and Paul were very welcoming and told us lots of fun facts of the area, and useful tips when we were out and about exploring. Before arriving, Deborah was kind enough to email some ideas to make food reservation, which helped massively and some great food choices were made for a few of our evening meals throughout our stay. A lot more then just your typical bnb. Throughly enjoyed our stay in the Oystercatchers and will hopefully be visiting again when we can. Thank you to you both for a lovely stay for mine and James’s first holiday together. Xx
Tips:We visited Micheal’s Mount, Pedn Vounder, Kynace Cove, Mousehole, Penzance, a Spa day at the Harbour Hotel, Self drive boat from the harbour… Food wise, we visited The Bier Huis, The Gannet Inn, The Harbour Fish and Chip Shop, Philps Pasty Shop (best pasties in Cornwall), la casia, and Willy wallers ice cream! So much more we would have loved to see, but that can all wait until our next visit! :)

Excellent in everyway possible, location and view from room was superb bus stop and train station within a few minutes walk, the property is maintained to a very high standard and hoists are very welcoming, chatty and the breakfasts are top class. 😀
Tips:Carbis bay beach is just a wow, cristal clear waters beautiful walks along coastal foot path into St Ives. St Ives is just another stunning village to visit, only one down fall is..... unless you book for meals you will not get in to any pubs/restaurants. Google pubs/restaurants prior to your stay and pre book your tables, this is due to covid restrictions and safety of staff and public, which I agree these measures should stay in place for the rest of 2021. Hoists are very knowledgeable plus they have a list of eateries that will deliver to your room if you are really stuck for meals.

Excellent communication, easy booking and pay process. Pleasant hosts. Knowledgeable on the area Clean and well decorated property. loved the furniture and the colour scheme through out the house. place was not far to walk into St.ives and beautiful scenery along the way.
Tips:Just being in St.ives is magical. The beaches, the culture, the art, the tiny streets and views. There are plenty of places to eat and drink. Some have to be booked in advance and some require a long wait. We found that after 8:30 places became more quieter, so we managed to get places without a booking. All in all lots to see and do in and around St.ives

Well, what can I say, the Oystercatcher is absolutely brilliant. Paul and Deborah are amazing hosts and make you feel very much at home. The rooms are very clean and inviting, the breakfasts are out of this world and their local knowledge of what to do is invaluable if you like to get out and about. I will be recommending the Oystercatcher to all my friends and family and I will certainly be returning myself. Thank you Paul and Deborah for such a great time.

Spent a fantastic 4 nights here using it as a base to explore Cornwall. Can't recommend it enough. Deborah and Paul were super friendly and helpful, recommending plenty of local places to visit and how best to get around etc. The location is fantastic, we enjoyed the 40 min walk into St Ives but the train or bus take you there in less than 10 mins. Our sea view room was sparkly clean and comfortable with everything you could need. The breakfasts were WOW and we both spent much of the day looking forward to the next morning's breakfast. They even catered for my bf's gluten intolerance. Would come back in a heartbeat. Absolutely lovely people with brilliant local knowledge.
Tips:Book at least your first restaurant as everywhere in Cornwall is super busy at the moment and suffering the repurcussions of Covid. Some attractions need booking beforehand such as the Minack Theatre. We spent most of our evenings in St Ives as it is easy to get to from Carbis Bay and booked most restaurants and bars either the day of or the day before. However a lot of places only take wak ins so it's luck of the draw!

The property is very clean, it has parking spaces and it's close to the beach. Paul and Deborah will welcome you at the arrival. They are lovely people and make the best breakfast I ever had.
Tips:Book restaurants for lunch/dinner ! We got this advice from Paul and Deborah but we didn't listen and we ended up getting our first dinner take away. Carbis Bay beach is the closest. St Ives is good for various activities such as boat trips, ski jet and also most of the restaurants are located there.

Our recent stay at Oystercatcher was lovely! My husband and I stayed for three nights in the master room, and had a wonderful time. The room itself is bigger and lighter than it looks in the photos - and the shower in the en-suite was amazing! The view from the windows is beautiful too. Deb and Paul are brilliant hosts. They made a fantastic breakfast each morning and were able to cater for my being vegetarian. They were very accommodating with keeping our luggage for us before and after check-out times, etc. They are also extremely knowledgeable about the area and shared lots of helpful tips with us. Overall a great stay and would definitely go back!
Tips:While St Ives is fun to visit, we agreed that if we were to go back we would definitely explore more of Carbis Bay. It had a better beach and was much quieter. Definitely worth booking restaurants in advance. We enjoyed our meals at La Casita and The Rum and Crab Shack. We got great take-out burgers from Birdies in Hayle (surprisingly good and lots of veggie options). Only disappointment was take-out fish from Coast to Go in St Ives - would avoid that. Best pasties we had by far were from Philips in Hayle. Definitely worth taking the bus route around the coast. We didn't spend long at Land's End - super touristy. But we loved the smaller towns like Sennen's Cove. Also discovered a wonderful distillery that runs a great tasting in Longrock, near Penzance, called Pocketful of Stones.

Staying at the Oystercatcher was such an enjoyable experience. Everything from the location to the cleanliness and breakfast was superb. Deborah and Paul are so attentive and gave the best advice and recommendations as to where to go and what to see or do, depending on what you wanted to get out of your stay. I honestly wouldn't hesitate to stay here again.
Tips:The Oystercatcher is very close to Carbis Bay beach, which is much quieter than Porthminster beach closer to St Ives. I'd also recommend you take the S W coastal path route when walking into St Ives as the backdrop is magnificent and takes just 40 minutes.

Tips:Carbis beach is amazing, however it’s very steep to get to and from however there is parking by the beach so bear this in mind. It’s a 10 ish bus or train ride to st ives or about 20 ish min walk with lovely views via the coastal route. Very welcoming and friendly, always greeted at breakfast and made time to talk to us and gave great helpful advice and tips on the area and things to do on our visit. Overall, lovely and friendly people,
Tips:Train into St Ives from Carbis Bay is cheap and handy as the walk back can be long and very hilly. Book ahead for St Ives restaurants as they get very busy or go into the town early and put your name down for walk in. Coastal routes down south past St Ives to lands end is beautiful and very picturesque, a must see if you have a car. Penzance is easy to get to with loads of parking. Porthcurno beach is really pretty and sheltered if too windy at St Ives.

The loveliest hosts! Made us feel so warm and welcome, always happy to help and gave lots of tips and recommendations on things to do during our stay. Could not recommend them enough! The room and facilities were perfect, everything you need for a little break away. We will definitely be returning and we highly recommend oystercatcher to anyone looking for a short break in St Ives. We can’t wait for our next trip back! Thank you so much, Kaitlin and Rachael x
Tips:Firstly, book in advance for lunch or evening meals as the main town can get booked up very quickly, and is usually quite busy with long waiting times and if you visit Lands End, take a coat as it can get quite windy despite the sun. Also the coastal walk into town is lovely and only takes an extra 10-15 minutes walking.

We very much enjoyed our stay with you and really appreciated your warm welcome and our interesting chats. You gave us a lot of information regarding the area which was a great help as we hadn't visited Cornwall for many years. The breakfasts were of a very high standard and we always looked forward to the mornings. The rooms were very clean and had everything we required and we appreciated the care taken to manage the Covid 19 - all round an excellent B&B.
Tips:Whilst the Covid restrictions are in place, it is best to plan ahead for both restaurants and visiting the various attractions. It was very busy in St Ives, but generally we managed well. If visiting Lands End and St Michael's Mount, it is best to ensure that you plan your visit to miss the crowds and ensure that you get plenty of time at St Michael's Mount before they close which is dependant on the tide (we only had an hour which wasn't enough time)

Our stay was amazing from us arriving to departing everything was incredible. When we arrived our greeting was very warm and welcoming and so informative of things for us to see and do during our stay. Our stay itself was great the beds were so comfy and the little touches are what made it even more enjoyable, like the little bottles of fresh milk everyday and variety of tea and coffee and even hot chocolate in our room. The breakfast each morning was incredible everything was cooked to perfection, we enjoyed everything so much so that we hopefully plan on returning in the future.
Tips:The nearby restaurants we definitely would recommend would be the gannet pub, becks fish and chip shop/restaurant and a Spanish restaurant called la casita. We also recommend that you go off and explore don't feel that you have to stay at the beach or only go into St there are so many places for you to see and explore that are only within a ten or twenty minutes drive trust me you won't be disappointed.

The best I have ever stayed in. The owners Paul and Debbie could not have done more for me. They have a massive knowledge of the area and ensure you see the best bits. The house itself is cosy and has fabulous views of Carbis Bay. The room was clean and every day fresh water, tea coffee was added to. There was also fruit available and a lovely touch fresh milk in a fridge a little thing but s nice touch. Breakfast is amazing cooked to order and nothing too much trouble.
Tips:This is a must stay at Bes and Bteakfast. The tea is brilliant for visiting Cornwall. It’s position above Carbis Bay is a perfect beach for all. Not too busy and all the wenitoes you need. The immediate area makes it easy to walk to St Ives or take the train. Perfect place

After a very warm welcome by Paul we enjoyed the really nicely and modern done up room, where there was everything we needed. Paul gave us many tips for having dinner near by and was helpful with the reservation in the Beach Club Restaurant due to our problems with our mobile connection. We slept really well in the comfortable bed and than had an absolutely breakfast! Everything of the cereals and the fruit and toast/waffels was lovingly arranged and we were impressed of the presentation of the warm breakfast: Paul, as a former cook, made the best poached eggs I had during my whole 2 weeks in England (where we changed our location every day, so we had many possibilities of comparison with hotels and B&Bs)! The service by Deborah was wonderful and the whole Atmosphere they both bring in their B&B made us want to come back again! Thanks a lot for being such wonderful hosts!
Tips:St Ives was really crowded due to it was Summer and holiday time. We had dinner in the carbis bay hotel beach restaurant, which was really good.

Paul and Deborah were fantastic hosts and their B&B is fantastic. Very welcoming, nice communal lounge and breakfast area for guests, really helpful with location recommendations and WONDERFUL breakfasts! Thank you both for such a wonderful stay, we really enjoyed St Ives and we are so glad we stayed at the Oystercatcher - it really made our honeymoon
Tips:We went to some great restaurants in ST Ives (Peppers, The Loft and The Seafood Cafe) All were fan tastic for different reasons but would highly recommend them all. Deborah and Paul also recommended a great day out, driving the coastal road from St Ives to Sennan Bay and a short walk from there to Lands End. The scenery was beautiful and Sennan bay is a lovely little place.

For us the location was perfect as we like to walk. Very friendly service and attention. Nothing was too much trouble. Our room was of ample size with a lovely comfy bed and really easy to use shower. Breakfast offered a varied menu of which the hot options were cooked to perfection. We will booking again for next year.
Tips:There is an excellent bus service stopping close by. We ate at both the Gannett Inn and La Casita restaurant. Both good quality but the Mediterranean restaurant was our favourite. St Ives is about a 25 minute walk either by road or a bit longer on the coastal path.

Breakfast was excellent and overall it was a very warm friendly atmosphere meaning we felt very relaxed and at home at the Oystercatcher! Would definitely stay here again!
Tips:Visit LaCasita for dinner, very nice food and warm atmosphere. Parking and driving generally in St. Ives is difficult so recommend getting busses. St. Ives is not disabled friendly but that's no comment on Oystercatcher. Try and book a boat trip from St. Ives to Seal Island, but be prepared it could get cancelled if weather not good.

Very welcoming and friendly hosts, our room was very nice, with great views over the bay and comfortable to sit and sleep in. Only negative comment would be the road noise as it is a slightly busy road, but it really didn't bother us at all.
Tips:The local pub we would recommend eating at if you don't go out to St Ives or elsewhere. The coastal path from Carbis Bay to St. Ives was lovely to walk, and does get you right onto the beach at St. Ives which is great.

All excellent. Paul and Deb very friendly and helpful. Cleo charmed every morning when we had breakfast. The room was spotless, but if your book the loft room, be aware the access is a little challenging :)
Tips:We walked into St Ives on occasions. St Ives full of wonderful restaurants. We particulalrly liked the Seafood Cafe and the Mermaid. You need to book ahead! A short trip to St Michael's Mount is hihgly recomeneded.

Paul and Deborah are excellent hosts. They are friendly and helpful and nothing is took much trouble. They also cook one of the best breakfasts I've had!
Tips:There is plenty to see and do in the area. Two restaurants close to Oystercatcher are Becks and La Casita. The former does some of the best fish and chips around, whilst the latter offers excellent Spanish dishes including tapas. If you like art then St Ives abounds in art galleries though wouldn't recommend the Tate. St Michael's Mount is only a short distance away and is definitely worth visiting.

Oystercatcher, a gem in the jewel which is St Ives Bay. For the ( regrettably, only ) 3 days we were there everything about Oystercatcher was first class. We had the main bedroom which had a most amazing panoramic view of St Ives Bay. This room and the residents room on the ground floor were decorated and provisioned in a most excellent way. Breakfast was superb, with regard to the menu and the quality of the ingredients but added to that everything was cooked to order by Paul. This was as good a breakfast as we have experienced in any 4/5 star hotel !!! Congratulations to both Deborah and Paul for so recently setting up the Oystercatcher and establishing such a first-class business in so short a time. We are looking forward to our next trip to the St Ives area - we know where we intend to stay.
Tips:If you're not already National Trust members consider joining as you could cover your annual membership ( plus!!) by visiting various sites near to St Ives. You must try Becks for a meal. A long established local restaurant, only 5 minutes walk from Oystercatcher, There are so many eating places in the area to suit all tastes and pockets !! Please keep Paul up to date with the quality of chips in the area - we think he's making a directory of this for future reference !!!! St Ives is only a 30 minute walk away. If you don't fancy the return ( slightly uphill ) walk , the bus service is good.

Excellent location to explore this part of Cornwall. On a main road, but not busy and and night is almost deserted. Very clean and tastefully decorated. Did not hear other guests in their rooms. Many nice touches, such as fresh milk available in individual bottles and not UHT. Great breakfasts, Paul was very accommodating for other guest breakfast requests. Paul and Deborah are very welcoming and knowledgeable of the local and wider area which they spoke of in an enthusiastic way. We lad the loft room which as described can be difficult for those with mobility issues due to the nature of the stairs.
Tips:St Ives is a short drive away - we parked several times at one of the car parks in the lower part of town and near the Tate. Avoid the car park intended for day visitors at the top due the location at the top of a hill. Paul and Deborah have many good suggestions for local amenities.

Hi, I booked through Booking.com and said l would arrive by 7pm. due to "an incident" l arrived at just before 11pm. Paul greeted me as if l was 3 hours early !! You gave me a vegetarian breakfast to die for and made me feel like l was a member of the family.........to be honest, who wouldn't want to be a part of (baby) Cleo's family ??? I cannot wait to stay in Carbis Bay again. Paul, you are enthusiastic, passionate about what you do and a damn good Chef !! What a wonderful team you, Deborah and Cleo (who are both adorable too) are. Thank you. With love and very best wishes, Chris Henley (Rev)
Tips:Take Paul's advice !! Make sure you visit the St Ives Museum, Porthminster Kithchen is a must but there is a 6 month waiting list for dinner up to October. At lunchtime it is still possible to get a Terrace seat but you must book. Porthwidden Beach is delightful but again, you must book months in advance as its on the beach. In Carbis Bay The Gannat is good and shuts at 11-45pm (which helped me arriving so late, kitchen closes at 9pm). for quality seafood in St Ives, also checkout the SeaFood Cafe. The coastal walk from Carbis Bay to St Ives and vice versa is a must (but steep at the beginning and the end).

Paul and Deborah are perfect hosts. Warm and welcoming . They maintain high standards in all areas. The Oystercatcher is newly refurbished , light modern, airy and spotlessly clean. Really, everything has been well thought out to ensure all guests have a very happy and enjoyable stay . Thanks Paul and Deborah!
Tips:Excellent location. Walking distance to the Blue Flag Carbis Bay beach, which has a lovely large restaraunt which we ate at twice and were very impressed with everything. Beck's fish restaraunt is short walk away, fantastic quality food and lovely staff. Badger at Lelant a thirty minute walk away and good food too. We walked to St. Ives and ate at The Sloop. Tips:Go to the Gannet inn for food just a few hundred yards up from the oystercatcher. You can walk into st Ives but taxi is only £6.

Owner Response:Thank you for your kind comments. We pride ourselves in our breakfast and have found a great local butcher - Vivian Olds of St Just - they have been around for 100 years and certainly know how to make tasty sausages!

Great hosts with a charming little baby daughter. Very personal atmosphere, like staying with friends. We had room #1 with fantastic sea view, maritime style with attention to detail. Very good breakfast, passionately cooked and served by Paul. Will recommend the Oystercatcher to our friends and will come back when returning to Cornwall. Oh - an very reliable and fast WiFi for those who need it. Thank you to Deborah and Paul and their lovely daughter and all the best.
Tips:Coastal walk to St. Ives from the Oystercatcher is very nice, passing through a beautiful residential area before reaching the beach of St. Ives. Hiking tour: Start in Sennen Cove, hike along the coast passing Land's End, climb the hill to the left right at Mill's Bay, cross the premisses of 3 farms and return to Sennen Cove. BEAUTIFUL. It is recommended to buy a map.
