My second stay at The Lighthouse. The views are simply incredible and the property has everything needed for a comfortable stay. Lovely welcome pack which I greatly enjoyed. Everything is just a short walk away but at night all you can hear is the sea - simply wonderful. Mike and Carol are enormously helpful and accommodating.
Tips:Wonderful beaches in St Ives, also Carbis Bay nearby. Tate is a must, but so many wonderful little galleries to view work by local artists. I also love the little cafes-Yellow Canary, Scoff Troff and Cornish Bakery.

3rd November 2021:
The location, built on the rocks above a small sandy cove, five minutes stroll to the harbour and less to Porthminster beach is unrivalled in St Ives. Equally the views of the harbour and St Ives Bay are magnificent from every room in the Lighthouse. We loved the unique and beautifully designed property, equipped and furnished to a very high standard and perfectly clean throughout. The Cornish welcome pack was much appreciated and the Information pack very clear and useful. I stayed in this property, known as Crab Rock 55 years ago on a family holiday as a kid. It was so lovely to return. We booked for next year before we left, which action we think speaks for itself.
Tips:OK, we all know St Ives is very popular and can feel very crowded at peak times. The plus side of this being, there is an amazing choice of restaurants catering to all tastes and budgets. As pescatarians we were spoilt for choice in the evenings, but in these times, it is essential to make reservations in advance. Our stand out restaurant was One Fish. Also we had an excellent supper at Porthminster Beach Cafe and less formally, we really enjoyed the Belgian Bier Huis Grand Cafe in St Andrew’s St, 3 minutes walk from the house.

The hosts Carole and Michael were very good at sending information through beforehand and helped when we got lost finding the property - although late at night! The Lighthouse provided us with a relaxing week with stunning views and listening to the waves beneath us.
Tips:Porthminster Kitchen restaurant - excellent food and service - need to book in advance along with others that Carole and Michael advise as they are so good they are fully booked if you leave it until your visit. Enjoyed visiting National Trust Levant Mine and others close by. (Poldark filming locations).

Wow, what a location, fantastic sitting anywhere in the property and looking out at the amazing views, watching the world go by! Great to have parking included, a must in St Ives. Lovely owners
Tips:So much to see and do; Tate St Ives, Barbara Hepworth workshop/home/garden. Train ride to Lelant, beautiful coastal walk back to St Ives, through Carbis Bay. Take a taxi or bus to Zennor, another stunning coastal path walk back into St Ives. Boat trip to Seal Island, Rib Ride to the Godrevy Lighthouse. Open top bus service, stopping at Lands End, Minack Theatre, Mousehole, Penzance Lido, St Michaels Mount, great way to travel, can see so much more and not worry about traffic and parking! So, so, so much to do in St Ives and locally, loved our trip exploring the area

The lighthouse is an amazing place to stay so good we keep coming back and don’t really want anyone else to know about it! It’s so peaceful despite being on the door step of a lovely beach, tennis courts and lots of great restaurants . The standard of furnishings is really high end and it’s always so clean . The views make me emotional and having your own little cove is the icing on the cake.
Tips:We ate at Rum and crab shack and the Loft this year both good Discovered the little Palais too for lovely wine and nibbles. The Tate is a ten minute walk and beyond it there are some lovely walks along coastal paths. If you play tennis like us you can book a clay court at the St Ives tennis club online up to about two weeks before Would book restaurants before you come in the summer

This is our third visit in six years and the Lighthouse is as lovely as ever. We were visiting St Ives for work and enjoyed the front line position and quirky layout of the apartment, with possibly the best views in the whole town. Carol and Mike are very pleasant to deal with, and very helpful. Many thanks.
Tips:Porthminster Beach Cafe is a relaxed place with good food. I also like the Pedn Olver hotel, right next door, with its majestic views of seals and the occasional dolphin and even a hump backed whale or two. The fish and chips was very good at the hotel. Porthgwidden Beach, with its friendly cafe.restaurant is a good place to eat and admire the view, also a bit off the track. My other favourite spot for reading or writing is the cafe at the top of the Tate Gallery.

We have been coming to The Lighthouse twice a year from 2010. Since Mike and Carol ‘took on’ the property in 2012 standards have been elevated to a whole new level. It is incredibly well equipped with quality items throughout, and the standards of decor and cleanliness are always amazing. It always feels like “our own holiday home” each time we come. And as for the views, undoubtedly the very best location in St Ives!

Good communication with owners for directions, entry instructions, COVID measures etc. They were kind enough to drop extra requested linen over and left a lovely welcome goodie bucket!
Tips:The owners tip on bringing slippers was invaluable for the metal spiral staircase. Would definitely recommend the SeaRoom for tapas (scrummy) and for views the Porthwidden Beach Cafe and Blas for burgers. Great to have a car parking space, only a 10 min walk from the Lighthouse.

The location can not be bettered. We loved watching the comings and goings of the harbour, and the ever changing scenery as the tide was coming in and going out. A wonderful, quirky property. The property was spotlessly clean and the owners had left a lovely welcome of Cornish treats for us on arrival, very much appreciated after a long train journey. Everything that you could want for a lovely, relaxing holiday was provided. We got used to the spiral staircase very quickly. We loved this property and will return. Thank you Carol and Mike for a wonderful break.
Tips:We had a lovely meal in the new Harbour Restaurant (they provide unlimited chips or salad, should you require it). We also enjoyed the Talal Thai restaurant on the harbour. Porthmeor Beach cafe (especially in the pods outside) and Porthminster are also great. There was a sea shanty festival when we arrived, which was fabulous. We saw Santa arrive in an RNLI boat, and then the Christmas lights were switched on by the cinema. Brilliant atmosphere. We know St Ives very well, but had not been there to see this.

The Lighthouse is a really special property, with the best views ever - rain or shine.
Tips:St. Ives is a fabulous destination for a really relaxing and rejuvenating stay. Great walking area, especially the Coastal Path. Hours of pleasure may be spent discovering the town's lovely shops, galleries and it's little 'nooks and crannies'. We had excellent food at Pedn Olva Hotel (next door); Firehouse; Peppers - please book evening table DAILY. Really good Indian and Italian takeaway's also available. Lots of useful contact via email from the owners and good information about places to eat and visit available in a folder. I was suffering from a running injury and found the steps from the pavement to the front door a challenge, a hand rail would have been useful. As we travelled by train bringing our own towels meant a full suitcase we would prefer to pay more and had towels provided.
Tips:We enjoyed a bus trip to Zennor and lunch at "The Tinners Arms", the Weatherspoons was very good value but a bit "seedy". We ate twice at Peppers Pasta & Pizza which was excellent and also "took away" burgers from Blas.

The Lighthouse is a lovely quirky house and it is set out beautifully. The views are amazing from all rooms and the house is situated in a perfect spot where you can reach the shops, beaches, and harbour without having to do hikes up hillside roads like most of the houses in St Ives. Carol & Mike made us very welcome and the welcome pack was a lovely gesture. We will be back again.
Tips:We particularly loved The Blas for amazing burgers and The loft for steaks. Make sure you take a walk up to The Clodgy- far side of Porthmeor Beach, it’s a bit a trek but well worth it for amazing views, so peaceful and if you go late morning you can see birds of prey hunting on the cliffs, there’s no facilities up there so make sure you pack drinks or take a picnic. Park by the National Trust café and enjoy good food also. A very interesting visit to Geevor Tin Mine, go into the mine with the guide, quite safe and not difficult, just bend if you are tall, a few single steps. This has to be the best location in St Ives ,it's hard to tear yourself away from the constantly changing harbour tides, sky and activity.Thenhouse is just perfect everything has been thought of and is of the highest quality. When you do emerge from this oh so stylish retreat St Ives does not disappoint, the charm and friendliness of the town is evident in each museum ,gallery shop or eaterie. The locals are justly very proud of their town and delight in sharing it with visitors. We cannot recommend the Lighthouse and St Ives highly enough. We had awonderful week, the weather was mixed but we embraced each day.
Tips:The history and Art walks led by Dawn from the Guikdhall are a must do.Blas burgers ,Porthminster Kitchen and Porthmeor beach cafe are excellent . The lady at the guildhall market cafe provides a great boxed lunch for £5 homemade quiche and salads, the Cornish bake house was better than expected for a quick sandwich ,wrap or baguette but take care you eat out of seagull range.Walk to Carbis bay,Leach pottery and Barbara Hepworth all worth a visit but a bit underwhelmed by the Tate.

Magical and elemental setting, power and sounds of the sea, quixotic light...all from every room. A loved and lovely house with delightful design and decor, with the warmest of welcome.
Tips:Back Street Bistro around the corner, friendly family owners and superb cooking. Easy access to all. Coastal walking stroll to Hayle, train back. Challenging but stunning to Zennor in other direction. Short drive to St Michael Mount, fascinating setting and history. Newly Harbour worth visit to see reality of fisherman livelihood the cost of delicious meals you may be eating in convivial hostelries in Far West. The gorse, primroses and violets were in abundance, take time to look and ponder. Wonderful. Practical tip take slippers for spiral staircase ....protect your feet.

You go to a lot of trouble to give guests an enjoyable stay. You really think of everything to make our holiday wonderful, thanks so much,
Tips:We enjoyed the cafe on porthminster beach and a walk to Carbis Bay. Lots of places closed earlier than they said on the website, so watch out for that in the winter months. We were caught out by this at Newlyn Art Gallery but discovered there is a wonderful new cinema at Newlyn with a cafe that sells great food and drink. Park behind the art gallery and it's just 100 yards away. They also beam in shows like musicals, gigs and theatre as well as films.

We always enjoy our stay at The Lighthouse and the welcome pack left by Carol and Mike is always much appreciated after a long journey. It is well equipped for self catering and having internet access is an added bonus. Really lovely place to stay. Also the book on birds is really helpful because we very often spot birds we have never seen before.
Tips:Lots of lovely local restaurants and if you have a gluten free diet they will adapt to help. A bus runs to the Minack Theatre which is well worth a look and if you can book to see a performance. Lovely beaches. Plenty of art galleries to wonder around and see the local artists at work.

17th August 2016:
An amazing location right above the sea, with fantastic view from every room and easy access down to the water. Depending on the tide this can be like diving into a pool from the rocks, or you have your own little beach. Inside it is very cosy, with a room on each of 4 floors. Furnishings are light and comfortable, just right for a seaside cottage. If you know St Ives you will know it is pretty busy in August, but in this house you would not know it, it only faces out to the sea and harbour. We could not really have been any happier or more relaxed than we were here.

Wonderful location, stylish accomodation. We can't fault The Lighthouse. The owners are so considerate, we felt warmly welcomed on arrival, more like guests returning than customers.
Tips:Our visit was in January and initially I was disappointed that so many places were closed for the season. I'd expected some smaller establishments to be closed but not quite so many restaurants (my husband is vegan and the restaurants that would have been perfect for him all seemed to be closed) and the Tate! The disappointment didn't last long though, still some fabulous places to eat and visit. We had a lovely week.

Tips:Bring slippers to cope with the staircase!! We found plenty do do even in January. Double check that Eden is open even though it said so on the internet! It was closed during the early part of our week.

Home from home comfort, with the addition of being located almost on the rocks and so having a fabulous outlook from every window.
